When creating my media coursework, I have received feedback from different people allowing me to get a verity of opinions on my work. This feedback has allowed me to be able to improve my work and make sure that I have a very well-presented music video, Digipak and magazine advert. I have received feedback from a verity of different means and people; the feedback that I have gained includes audience feedback from the teacher and peers and also feedback from our surveys. This has allowed us to get wide range of feedback that has allowed me to improve the work to make sure that it is to the highest possible standard.

Music video

The first bit of audience feedback came from us working out who are target market will be. Usually we would use UK tribes however it did not fit or genera, this meant that we had to get this information from CMA. This information allowed us to be able to see who are UK and global market will be for our music video.

The second bit of feedback that we received was from the surveys. The first question on the questionnaire is “do you prefer a narrative or performance based music video” this gained the response that we were expecting as 52.9% of people prefer a performance based videos. This is what we were hoping for as we wanted are video to be performance base as from the research and planning we can see that this is very successful for are genera.

The second question was “how important do you think the visuals are in country music.” This question allowed us to be able to see that 76.5% of people thought that tits important, this allowed us to back up the information that we had found from are research and planning showing the importance of the visuals. This allowed me to also be able to see that my peers agreed that it is very important and allowed me to see why it Is very important for the visuals to represent the lyrics in country music videos. Both me and Ali seen the importance of the visuals when watching existing country music so the results of this question where no surprise.

The last question on our survey was “Would you expect a country music video to be narrative or performance based?” this question allowed us to be able to see what people thought and then be able to compare it to what we had found within our research and planning. We got the answer that we were expecting which was “performance based” coming out with the majority this allowed us to have some more research that backed up that a performance based video was the way to go. We also found this out through our research and planning as we could see that are audience for this genera really enjoys a performance based video and there for with the results of this question we decided that the video must be performance based.

We then collected feedback on our draft music video we got this audience feedback from people that we knew had filled in our survey this allowed our feedback to be consistent and allowed the improvements to be from someone that is interested in the genera of music. The feedback that we gathered highlighted a lot of positives within our video but also identified changes that could be made for our final music video. This feedback is very important and highlighted elements in which we could improve to give us a better overall video. This feedback also allowed us to be able to identify that there was sections where they could be reshot to tighten up the lip syncing but at the same time could even include another location within the video to offers some more verity for the viewer. We also received feedback from the teacher on the draft music video this feedback resembled the feedback from our peers and the feedback that we had already gathered, this gain included the problem with the lip sync in the middle of the song which was an obvious problem that was making our video look less professional. We also gained feedback from the teachers to make the opening shots shorter however we decided that these shots worked very well, and this was highlighted in research that we also did as lots of existing country songs have long dragged out shots in the intro. Also as this was a performance based video we decided that these shots at the start allowed us to demonstrate the location that we were in and got the way that the artist Is represented over to the user in the first shots. This was very important as it is a performance based video and we needed the artist to be the main part of our video. This feedback allowed me to be able to see that everyone has different opinions and elements within the video that I may not like meet the genera very well and there for matched the genera which is very important.

Ancillary products

I collected a lot of audience feedback to make sure that I know what needed to come from my ancillary products to make sure that they are of the best quality. By having a survey on ancillary products, it allowed us to be able to see what needs to come out of these products to make sure that they meet the genera but at the same time where of the best quality and represent the song/genera of music. Elements of these products where also identified in my research and planning meaning that I had a lot of information/facts to be able to make a product that meets the genera and includes the important elements.

When I had created the draft version of my ancillary products I gave them to people that shown interest in the genera this allowed me to be able to get feedback on the products that was relevant for the genera and allowed me to be able to see if it met the genera. I also gave it to people that did not have interest in the genera, but this still allowed me to be able to get feedback on the elements that were not included and would be good if they were. An example of this was to include the media that it will be released on this is a very important element that I had missed out on my magazine advert and was a very helpful bit of feedback. This feedback allowed me to be able to identify the images that didn’t work on my digipak and there for allowed me to be able to get new images that will match the genera better. It also allowed me to be able to identify that the layout on my magazine advert probably didn’t work and there for allowed me to rethink the idea and then re design it for the final submission.

I also gathered feedback from the teachers and again this was very similar to the feedback I had gathered from the people I had given my products. This feedback did highlight elements like the record label being too big and there for allowed me to be able to change elements to make it look as professional as possible. The feedback on my magazine advert also allowed me to again see that the layout didn’t work and there for lead to me producing a better magazine advert that I believe works very well and resembles a country album in a way that matches the genera of music.

The exam board also played an influence on my decision in codes and conventions elements such as; the legal information (on both products), bar codes. These elements allowed me to be able to make sure that my designs looked professional but would also have the best chance of selling I also used codes and conventions in the way in which the album name and artist name where portrayed over to the user on the cover. However, this did not stop the creative ideas that I have used within my designs. This all allowed me to be able to make my products resemble the country genera very well and have meeten the stereotypical country genre.
